Carolina & João got married in Costa da Caparica, Portugal.

Nine years ago, João and Carolina met in Switzerland at a party. Two Portuguese souls, in a different country who instantly recognized something familiar in each other. Sometimes, love doesn’t arrive with fireworks. Sometimes it’s the quiet certainty that this person standing in front of you feels like home. That’s what it was for them.

They grew up together, built a life together, and even adopted the sweetest dog, Benji. Over time, their love didn’t just stay, it deepened. They became best friends, true partners. When I met them six months before their wedding, I knew instantly that they weren’t just another couple I’d photograph. It felt like we were meant to cross paths. Our pre-wedding shoot in Lisbon didn’t feel like “work” at all, it felt like spending a day with friends. That’s the kind of energy they carry into every room: warm, open, connected.

Two days later, they said “I do” in Costa de Caparica, at Coco Beach Bar. The setting was simple, but the meaning was enormous. Seventy-five of their closest friends and family flew in from all corners of the world to witness it. Carolina wore a flowing princess gown and a veil that seemed to carry the ocean breeze itself. João didn’t need grand speeches, his love is in the way he moves, the way his hands always reach for hers, the way his presence steadies her. Carolina balances him with words, with laughter, with the kind of affection that makes everyone around her feel seen.

One of the most unforgettable moments for me happened not on the wedding day, but during the pre-wedding shoot. Carolina had lost her engagement ring a year ago. In the middle of our session, João pulled out a little box. Inside was a new ring. The look on her face -surprise, love, tears -it was the embodiment of what it means to care for someone through life’s imperfections. Love isn’t about never making mistakes. It’s about how we hold each other after them. João reminded me of that. He reminded me that real love is not only in the vows, but in the small gestures that say, “I still choose you, over and over again.”

Their wedding was everything they had promised: emotional, full of laughter, and wildly chaotic in the best way. Their families are pure fire, once the music started, the dance floor turned into something between a festival and a fever dream. It was joy, completely unfiltered.

But what moved me most wasn’t just the party. It was seeing João and Carolina together, sneaking little conversations between songs, holding onto each other, laughing like they had just met, even after nine years. Photographing them didn’t feel like photographing clients. It felt like witnessing the kind of love that makes you believe in forever.

I came home and sobbed for three days. Not because it was sad, but because it reminded me how beautiful it is when two people find their soulmate and never stop choosing them. That’s what João and Carolina have. And that’s why I will never forget this wedding.

Carolina & João, thank you for letting me walk beside you through these memories. Thank you for showing the world that real love isn’t about perfection, but about being best friends who never stop holding onto each other. You reminded me why I do this, and why it is so important to never settle for less. I will carry your story with me always and I will miss you.

"The photos are just INCREDIBLE, honestly I don't even know how to thank you... It went far beyond expectations! The way you understood what we wanted and managed to capture those moments, it's just perfect.
On top of all that, we loved spending time with you so much. We felt such a great connection, and that made the whole experience even more special.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!"
